Police response to bike thefts

Following recent reports of bike thefts from teenagers at the new Pumptrack in Newhaven, Lewes Prevention have continued their patrols to the area, and are working with NeighbourHood First to tackle the issue.

UPDATE: Lewes Prevention Officers and staff will be at the Newhaven Pumptrack next month from 1pm – 5pm on Thursday the 25th July offering a bike registration and marking event for bike owners.

They would encourage bike and track users to join them on the 25th of JULY and take advantage of crime prevention advice and marking tools to keep your bikes safe from theft – should you know any bike users that do not sign up to the community messaging system to please pass on this information.
Crime prevention techniques such as using a more solid lock, not leaving your bike unattended when leaving the park can all help towards preventing further thefts.

They look forward to seeing you, if you run groups or clubs where young bike users frequent, please pass on this information.
