Lewes Police response to bike thefts and ASB – UPDATE

Following ongoing work alongside NeighbourHood First, and increasing high visibility PCSO patrols around the Pumptrack in Newhaven to tackle issues, police are pleased to report they have seen a decrease in youth related ASB and bike thefts from the park.

To continue this positive result they are also pleased to update: Lewes Prevention Officers and staff will be at the Shakespeare Hall in Newhaven, in the recreation ground at the bottom of Fort Road on the 22nd August from 12-4pm offering a bike registration and marking event for bike owners.

Police would encourage bike and track users to take advantage of crime prevention advice and marking tools to keep bikes safe from theft – should you know any bike users that do not sign up to the community messaging system to please pass on this information.

Crime prevention techniques such as using a more solid lock, not leaving your bike unattended can all help towards preventing further thefts.
