SALTS SKATEPARK SUCCESS!

Seaford’s new skatepark at The Salts has been a great success and it has been amazing to see so many people utilising this fabulous new addition to the recreation ground.  There was a fantastic turn out for the ‘Skate Jam’ grand opening event which took place during the school summer holidays. The skatepark was officially opened by Seaford’s Mayor, Councillor Nazish Adil, along with Newhaven, Peacehaven and Seaford Lions Club members and staff from Seaford Town Council.

CCTV has recently been installed at the park, which has already proved very effective in assisting the Council to work together with Sussex Police to prevent vandalism and crime, making it a safe place for users of all ages.

The next phase of the skatepark development is the installation of floodlights, with works due to commence on Monday 30th September.  Please note that the skatepark will be closed from Monday 30th September until Friday 4th October inclusive to allow the work to progress unhindered.  The effect will be that, with winter approaching and the darker nights coming, the skatepark will still be able to be in use much longer as the floodlights are planned to be on until 9pm every evening.

Local skater, Noah Scott-Lake, aged 14 said: “The skatepark has been a really great improvement.  Myself and all my friends really enjoy hanging out there.  It’s great fun and we can’t wait for the lights to go on, so we can skate later in the afternoon when it starts getting dark.”
