Seaford Mayor’s Update

The Mayor of Seaford, Cllr Nazish Adil has been busy fundraising for her two chosen charities, The Youth Counselling Project’, and the Down Syndrome Development Trust’

The Mayor hosted a Charity Quiz Night, at ‘The View at Seaford Head’ on Friday 1st November raising £530 on the night from entry fees and raffle tickets! She would like to thank everyone who attended, all the businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes and to the Seaford Hard of Hearing Club who donated £50 to the Mayor for her charities for giving a talk to members.

The Mayor is also hosting a Carol Service on Tuesday 10th December at St Leonard’s Church 7pm.  The Archway Choir and local school choirs will be performing on the evening and a retiring collection will also go towards the Mayor’s charities.

The Mayor invited the local primary schools to participate in designing the Mayor’s Christmas Card for 2019, The theme was ‘Seaford at Christmas’.  The card will be sent to local dignitaries and contacts in the community and beyond. Nearly 200 entries were received and as you can image it was a very hard task to choose a winner! The winner was Florence Vaks from Seaford Primary School!  It was a fabulous drawing,  showing Santa and his reindeer enjoying the new  Seaford Skatepark. Runners up were Amelie Golsdon Seaford Primary and Ethan Howson from Annecy School. The winners will receive art materials.   All the entries will be on display at the Mayor’s Carol Service.

The Mayor’s response to receiving the entries– I feel each and every child has a unique and special mind when it comes to arts and creativity. I congratulate every single participant for exhibiting their talent and spreading happy emotions and spirits of Christmas in Seaford highlighting beautiful scenes, famous attractions, leisure sites, local shops and Churches. I admire their sense of colour choices, contrasts and sharpness in line and lengths. Thank you to the management of Seaford Primary School, Annecy Catholic Primary School and Cradle Hill Primary School for their support and to all parents who encouraged and helped their children to send their entries. A huge thanks to the children. For me , everyone is the winner.”

These events are all following the Mayor’s Open Garden Trail thanks to Geoff Stonebanks, and 2 Summer Receptions.  To date, £2800 has been raised fo the Mayor’s Charities.  Fundraising will continue until the end of the municipal year when the final total will be divided and presented to both charities at the Town Forum on Tuesday 4th May

Following a successful Pub Quiz that the Wellington Pub held for the Mayor’s Charities in October which raised £105, the Wellington Pub and the Seven Sisters Pub are also hosting Quiz evenings.

The Mayor said about the Quiz Night– ‘It was an amazing evening. I feel so humbled by the love and support of the people. The event was well attended and successful. I ‘d had the opportunity to meet and socialise with new people with intelligent minds and masters in general knowledge. The evening was fun throughout.

My big thanks to all the well wishers and supporters who came along and made it such a lit up event. We raised a significant total of £530 for my chosen charities for the year.
