HOW THE UK’S VAN DRIVERS COPE ON FESTIVE FRANTIC FRIDAY

A fifth of the van community is going to spend over 40 hours working away from loved ones this Christmas period, with 40% saying this is because the amount of work increases. About 36% feel that technology is crucial to ensuring they can deliver on time, while 54% of van drivers predict tech will be the biggest catalyst for growth over the next 12 months.

It’s Father Christmas who gets the credit for delivering millions of presents to boys and girls every year, but it’s his delivery driver ‘elves’ that find themselves tirelessly working through the season.

Van drivers across the country will work an average of four extra hours a week over the Christmas period to deliver the estimated 100 million parcels this December.

With the rise of online shopping and need for an efficient delivery system, especially at this time, the pressure builds for the nation’s van drivers with 95% of them feeling responsible for making sure their customers’ Christmases run smoothly, according to research.
