Operation Blitz – Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in your district

The weekend of January 31st/ February 1st saw the team head out across a wet and windy district, with both foot and van patrols of areas in Ringmer, Barcombe, Chailey, Newick and Plumpton before heading to the coast.

A call to the Blitz phone was received in the evening to Walmer Road, Seaford, where a group of youths were seen in some ones garden. Upon arrival the youths had already gone, but the team stuck around in Seaford following reports late last week of egg throwing at properties in the town.

Mid evening patrols of the town came across a group of known youths causing a nuisance in the town, Officers used their powers of Stop and Search, and following positive identification of one of the group, a male was arrested for breaching his community order. Two others were taken home by Police. Following this action there were no further reports of ASB within Seaford for the reminder of the Op Blitz shift.

The remainder of the weekend’s Blitz shift was fairly quiet, with the rain putting keeping people indoors, however patrols continued during the hours of Blitz in Newhaven owing to on-going ASB and youth related disorder, as well as both foot and van patrols along the coast into
Peacehaven and Telscombe.
