Letter from the Mayor of Peachaven

It seems that Peacehaven is the place to be now with so many events planned.

Here is the latest newsletter from The Mayor Cllr Claude Cheta :-

On Saturday 22nd February 2020, I had the privilege of hosting the latest ‘Food From Around the World’ event- African Night .From the feedback received from you so far, I am proud to say that it was a success.Beyond the food that I am sure you enjoyed, we celebrated innovation, creativity and diversity in our Town.

I was impressed with the skills of the dancers and musicians. liked it when so many residents joined in to dance and sing.It was a memorable moment in the life of our town.

Special thanks to John (one of our lovely residents) who generously donated two of his precious paintings from Kenya in support to the Mayor Charity. Thanks also to councilors, volunteers and council staffs who helped organize the event. £764 was raised during the night and will support my chosen charities: Chillax, CTLA, Kempton House and Know Dementia.

As promised, we will continue listening to you and adjust our plans to meet your needs. You requested the Bingo Night and the recent session was very successful, with at least 40 people attending and raising £145. I found your engagement in communityactivities very encouraging. As you requested, we are now running the Bingo session on Wednesday starting on 11 March 2020 from 14:00 to 16:00. Thiswill be in addition to the Friday session (next one on Friday 6th March 2020).

Please also note in your diaries the Wrestling Night on 14 March at 19:30.

As you will notice, we are growing as a family and the quality of community life is improving. More residents are having a say in what is happening in Peacehaven: At least 50 people attended the neighborhood plan meeting on Monday 24 February 2020and shared their hope, expectation and vision for the town. We saw many challenges ahead of us, but many opportunities and strengths as well.

We are moving in the right direction.Let’s keep going.
