National Nest Box Week was marked in style at a Newhaven garden centre which ran a colouring competition for younger visitors.
Six year-old Livvy Clancy from Newhaven won
first prize in the contest arranged at Paradise Park. Her winning
design is now in the workshop, to be made into a real nest box and
installed in the gardens at the Avis Road tourist attraction.
“We had enormous interest in the competition”,
said Rebecca Houghton-Knapp from Paradise Park. “Entries were to a
high standard and the judges had a difficult time selecting a
winner. Thank you to everyone who took part and learned a little
more about our native birds and their nesting habits.”
Livvy and her mum, Rebecca Clancy, are pictured collecting the prize from Kate Aust.
