Thousands of tender plants need to be lovingly cared for while a local nursery in Newhaven is in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Family-run Tates of Sussex Garden Centres have acres of nurseries to grow plants not just for their own use but for other outlets across the county.
As managing director, Jonathan Tate, explains: It’s been just over a week since we closed our doors to our customers, but with over half a million plants to look after across our centres and nurseries, a small team of staff remain at our sites, keeping our plants alive until we are able to re-open and welcome you all back to our centres.”
The garden centres, in Hassocks, Dial Post, Newhaven and Portslade, have received many messages of support during these difficult days. “We would like to thank you all for your kind messages and look forward to seeing you again soon”, says Luke Gibbs who is pictured watering some of the plants at Paradise Park in Newhaven.
