Update on last weekend’s Operation Blitz activity
So far this week police have already given a total of 20 hours dedicated to targeting and tackling anti – social behaviour across the Lewes District.
They will continue to tackle anti – social behaviour every day.
Last week’s Operation Blitz – The extra dedicated patrols for anti-social behaviour started by patrolling the Malling Recreation Ground. They are happy to report that no one was spotted in the grounds and everything was all in order. They can say the same for Neville Recreation Ground and Bell Lane Recreation Ground, and it was good to see that members of the public were taking the government guidelines with careful consideration.
The next port of call was to check in with the supermarkets in the area including Waitrose, Tesco and Aldi in Lewes, where all protocols were being adhered too.
A final stop in Lewes was to the train station where again no one was seen in the area.
This led to patrols moving on to the Newhaven area of the district including visiting the Big Park and Fort Recreation Ground, where officers went on a further foot patrol to check everything was in order.
THey then moved on to our checks of shops in the area where very few people were around, only getting the essentials that they needed.
They then checked Newhaven seafront car park and the Meridian centre, where we only spotted one person, other than that there was nothing of note to report.
The patrols also conducted some checks of local pubs to find they were all safe and locked up tight!
Finally, they received one call to Landport where there were reports of youths gathering and riding motorbikes across some private land, upon officers arrival the youths had left the area.
