Update on last weekend’s Operation Blitz activity
The team started off on the coast in Newhaven when they were called by the Comms department to respond to reports that a male, who looked possibly homeless, was wandering around the High Street with what looked like an oxygen tank on their back.
The male was located and given advice about accommodation and where to gain support. It turned out the so called oxygen tank was a foil lined sleeping mat.
They then drove the van to Saltdean where they scouted the area from The Lido and cliff tops to around the residential streets.
Next on the list was the Meridian Centre in Peacehaven, walking through all was orderly and quiet.
They also visited the Big Park in Peacehaven which was being used appropriately – dog walkers and members of public using the park to exercise.
They were then called to locate a male that had gone missing from his home in Peacehaven. He was found shortly afterwards and they carried onto Newhaven.
Whilst there a report was received of some residents gathering in a communal garden, at time of attendance all was quiet.
The West Quay areas of Newhaven and the harbour were checked and all was in order there.
It was then onwards to Seaford where the seafront was patrolled; there was just a couple of fisherman to note. The Salts and town centre were attended and no one was present at this time.
The rural areas were next on the agenda, visiting the villages of Ringmer, Barcombe and Newick, before getting a call to assist with a lorry that had been stopped on the A27 in Falmer.
