BANISHING THE BREAKDOWN BLUES – AA ADVISES ON SMOOTH RUNNING POST-LOCKDOWN

With lockdown measures beginning to ease in England, many drivers returning to work or looking to use their cars for the first time in weeks will find that their vehicles won’t start.

This week is expected to be one of the busiest of the year for breakdowns after AA patrols reported attending more than 10,000 on Monday (11th May) – about the same number the AA would normally expect outside of lockdown conditions.

While AA patrols are keeping Britain’s key workers and those who need to travel mobile, most drivers still will not be using their cars for some time. Despite the government announcing a six-month exemption for MOTs due after 30 March 2020, it is still essential that car owners keep their vehicles in a roadworthy condition – basic maintenance will help ensure the car functions properly.
