Newhaven safe from DFDS job cuts

Maria Caulfield MP has put the case forward for jobs on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry route and learnt that none of the planned 650 job cuts will be happening locally.

Following discussions with the Newhaven Port Authority regarding Danish based company DFDS Maria Caulfield MP confirmed that whilst 650 job were to go across Europe including 200 in Denmark, none of the planned job cuts at present were to come on the Newhaven to Dieppe route, which operates out of her constituency to the Northern French port.

Newhaven MP Maria Caulfield said “Whilst any job loss is sad for those involved it is good news for local people here in Newhaven that none of the planned job losses at present will be happening on the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry route. I hope that the port and the ferry will continue to thrive in Newhaven bringing jobs and money into our local economy as we look to continue the regeneration of Newhaven.”
