Calling all Tree Lovers of Eastbourne

Eastbourne ECO Action Network is working to make the town carbon neutral by 2030.
The network also aims to turn Eastbourne green by at least doubling current tree cover, an ambition which is being kick-started through a new crowd funding campaign.
The network is aiming to plant thousands of trees on public land across the town and to make it easy for homeowners and businesses to plant them on their own land.
Throughout August the network is asking residents and businesses to donate to the crowdfunder campaign to help fund this programme of tree planting. East Sussex County Council are offering match-funding to support the project and will double the sum raised.
Councillor Jonathan Dow, Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Sustainability said: “The more we mobilise as a community to address the challenges posed by climate change, the more we will achieve in tackling the greatest ever threat to planet earth. I’d like to thank the ECO Action Network for launching this funding initiative and encourage everyone to make a contribution, however big or small. If you can make a donation you can consider it an investment in the wellbeing of future generations of your own family – what can be better than that?”
The money raised through the campaign will pay for:buying and growing trees, seeds and saplings setting up tree nurseries tree planting, watering and maintenance a marketing campaign targeting planting on privately-owned land.
