Councillors help keep Sovereign Harbour tidy

Seven new litter and dog waste bins have been installed in the Sovereign Harbour area following requests from residents.

Ward councillors Caroline Ansell, Paul Metcalfe and Penny di Cara agreed funding for the multi-purpose bins, which cost £2,000 in total, through the borough council’s devolved budget.

They are situated at:

  • Hobart Quay
  • Two at Macquarie Quay
  • Near the RNLI Lifeboat Station
  • Close to Havana Quay
  • Close to Little Venice
  • Long Beach Mews

In a joint statement, the Sovereign Harbour councillors said: “This is in response to requests from residents and the Sovereign Harbour Neighbourhood Panel for more bins around North Harbour, Main Harbour and Outer Harbour.

“We are pleased to provide these to ensure that people keep our beautiful surroundings free of litter and dog owners clean up after their pets.”

Meanwhile in Hampden Park, ward councillors have given Eastbourne Eco Education Network £2,250 to fund a project engaging students and families in making the area a greener and better place to live.

The scheme raises awareness of ways to reduce carbon emissions, cut down on waste and energy requirements.
