Maria Caulfield MP urges veterans to register interest in railcard ahead of launch

Lewes MP Maria Caulfield is urging veterans in the Lewes constituency to register their interest in the new Veterans Railcard ahead of its launch in October.

Anyone who has served for at least one day in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) or Merchant Mariners and seen duty on legally defined military operations may be eligible.

The Veterans Railcard will be available at an introductory price of just £21 for one year, if purchased before 31 March 2021, a saving of £9 on the normal retail price of £30. A 3-year Railcard is also available for an introductory price of just £61, if purchased before 31 March 2021, instead of the normal retail price of £70.

It will offer savings of 1/3 off most rail travel, whether visiting family and friends or simply enjoying a day out. Veterans can also nominate a companion to get 1/3 off when travelling with you and up to 4 children travelling with the veterans get 60% off.

Maria Caulfield MP said “The new Veterans Railcard is a small way that we can thank those who have served our country. Particularly for regular rail users the cost of the card will be quickly made back through the savings. The card will be available to buy in October and the discounts will be available from early November. I want as many veterans as possible from the Lewes constituency to be aware of the railcard and to purchase it if wanted. Whatever branch of service and whether they served one day or several decades they can get the benefits of the Veterans Railcard.”
