Imagine you have just won one million pounds. Now decide who you are going to call to tell them the news first.
Unsurprisingly, 41% of Brits would tell their partner first, followed by their mum (14%). However, 12% would not tell anyone, including their immediate family and best friend, they have just become a millionaire.
The big question then is are you going to give any of your new fortune away? Well, while 14% would give away no more than £10k, the average amount someone in the UK would is £133,000 according to new research from Lottoland.
And who is receiving the generous gift of money? The winner’s child (28%), partner (19%) or mum (19%) – who is three times more likely to be given the money than dads (6%).
Donald Fear recently became the sixth winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, the first with Jeremy Clarkson, using just one lifeline and immediately knowing the answer to the million-pound question – In 1718, which pirate died in battle off the coast of what is now North Carolina? (obviously, it was Blackbeard).
