LEWES TIER 4 – LEADER OF COUNCIL RESPONSE

Councillor James MacCleary, Leader of Lewes District Council, said:

“The rapid rise is infections in the district is extremely worrying and while I am also deeply concerned about the impact tier four restrictions will have on businesses and the well-being of our residents, I don’t think there is any other option at this time.

“I implore the government to do everything in its power to accelerate the vaccination programme and provide the financial support that businesses and the self-employed need to stay afloat.

“Lewes District Council’s officers will continue to maintain frontline services, putting the needs of our most vulnerable residents first, as we have done since the first lockdown in March.”
