Our local MP Maria Caulfield brings us some good news to be optimistic about 2021:-
Newhaven is one of only 72 towns in the country, chosen by the Government, to receive some of the £830 Million funding boost for High Streets.
We all know that for decades the town centre in Newhaven has needed regeneration to bring more businesses to the area and this money will help do just that. Regenerating Newhaven has been one of my key priorities since being elected as the local MP for the town.
The money which will be the first part of the regeneration of Newhaven is on top of the £25 million allocated for Newhaven town as a whole. This £5 million will kick start the regeneration and is on top of the investment in the port, the expansion of the Rampion wind farm in the town and the £25 million towns fund which will support all of Newhaven seeing investment that will create jobs for local people. For too long Newhaven was forgotten and I am pleased that this is now changing with work starting on the first project early in the new year.
