Perfect timing for Sussex Day on 16th June – the return of the very rare Sussex Emerald Moth to Sussex!
Last week at Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, the first ever caterpillar of the Sussex Emerald Moth was found – in Sussex. This comes after a policy of management on the reserve to encourage exactly this.
When moth expert Sean Clancy and Rebecca Levey of Kent’s Magnificent Moths visited the reserve on 10th June, they found two well-grown larvae on the Wild Carrot.
