The Latest step in Lewes District Council’s pioneering development of new modular properties in the district will see thirteen affordable homes built in Newhaven.
Demolition of the disused offices on the site will soon be underway after the council’s planning committee approved the highly innovative scheme in Fort Road.
The 13 new homes will include six two-bedroom and seven one-bedroom apartments, and all will benefit from a range of sustainability features. These measures include the latest solar panels that will feed the energy generated into hi-tech batteries that will effectively take the homes ‘off-grid’, potentially for up to three months of the year.
Boutique Modern, a specialist manufacturer of modular homes in Newhaven, will supply the homes in Fort Road. Boutique Modern design and build the properties in their local factory before moving them to the site for installation.
The company also recently built six homes for a Lewes District Council housing scheme in Peacehaven. The superb homes were put onto the back of lorries and craned into position.
David Allison moved into Ashington Gardens in May and is delighted with his property.
“The quality of my new home is very high. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard about the modular design, but I couldn’t be happier.”
