“Bushcraft is fast becoming one of the most popular outdoor pursuits for all generations. It doesn’t matter how old we are, it’s just human nature toenjoy puzzles and challenges, and the great outdoors is the perfect playground ” explains Iain Nicol, CEO of the South of England Agricultural Society, organisers of the Autumn Show & Game Fair.
Nicol added: “The likes of Bear Grylls, Ray Mears, Ant Middleton and Sir Ranulph Fiennes have inspired millions around the world but, contrary to popular belief, bushcraft isn’t just about survival skills. Nature presents us with endless opportunities to develop our problem-solving abilities using our hands, basic tools and our imagination, improve our teamwork with family and friends, and as such build our confidence whilst learning skills of communication, leadership. These are all great skills to learn, especially for the younger generation, so we’re very excited to be able to add the bushcraft workshops to our Autumn Show programme.”
