For the first time ever, Care for the Carers is running a special countywide raffle, to celebrate 30 years of supporting unpaid carers locally and raise vital funds to continue their work.
The charity supports local people who look after a relative or friend who couldn’t manage without their support. The pressures of caring can take their toll, with many carers suffering health problems, high levels of stress and being financially disadvantaged as a result of caring for a loved one.
The raffle was launched at the charity’s recent Carers Voices Forum, held on 30th August at the Civic Centre in Uckfield, attended by carers and local groups from across East Sussex.
Chief Executive, Jennifer Twist, says, “We wanted to do something fun, to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and give back to the community. We contacted local businesses to ask whether they could help and were overwhelmed by the response. Over 40 East Sussex businesses have given a prize – this really is a ‘Grand’ raffle! It’s been humbling to see how much Care for the Carers is valued, and how important the business community feels it is to build a Carer Friendly East Sussex.”
£1,000 cash top prize
Raffle tickets are on sale for just £1 each, with a top prize of £1,000 cash on offer and many other amazing prizes to be won, including a week’s holiday, spa package (generously donated by Birchwood Motor Group), Jempson’s Hamper (thanks to Queensmead Care Home) and one year’s free membership to the Towner Art Gallery, and De La Warr Pavilion.
