We are often told people dread slowly turning into their parents. Whether you catch yourself using some of the phrases you heard around the house growing up, are compelled to spend your Sundays cleaning or are just cracking the same old ‘dad’ jokes, you do not want to become mum or dad.
However, 44 million of us admit we actually aspire to be more like our mums with 1 in 4 saying that their mothers have been the biggest influences in their lives, according to research.
In fact, despite the different career paths our mothers may have taken – from high-flying career women to busy stay-at-home-mums – many of us want to follow in their footsteps. About 28% say they have been inspired to follow their dreams and be ambitious (22%) by their mums with 23% of women saying their mum was such a great role model that it made them want to have kids themselves.
