Peacehaven Coastal Branch of Guide Dogs is a group of volunteers who organize and attend events in the Peacehaven area to raise funds for Guide Dogs, charity 209617.
The Group’s Co-Ordinator is Mick Etheridge, (63), a Guide Dog user.
On the 17th October 2020, Mick will be leaving his guide dog, Onyx at home and walk 8 miles from Seaford town centre to Rottingdean using his white cane skills.
Mick said. “Covid 19 has put an end to all types of fundraising that would normally have taken place, and as a result, income is down. I have decided to do this walk as I want to raise as much money as possible for Guide Dogs (charity 209617) as I feel it is so important that Guide Dogs continue to breed, train and partner guide dogs to those with sight loss. My wonderful guide dog Onyx, not only gives me companionship, but more importantly, my independence, enabling me to go to places without having to rely on others.
Although I can see just shadows, I decided to make this walk a little more challenging by wearing a blindfold and use my white cane skills – for safety reasons, I will be followed by a sighted friend who will adhere to social distancing rules.”
Thank you for your kind support, it is much appreciated.
