Maria Caulfield recently met with local members of UK-wide community run group u3a to see their display on Newhaven High Street to celebrate u3a day on the 2nd June.
The window display highlighted many of the activities the local group run for people in Newhaven and Peacehaven. The local u3a group offer a wide range of activities for their members, ranging from singing for pleasure to the bridge club, with groups focussing on photography, learning the ukulele, and a book club, with many other activities on offer.
Founded over 35 years ago, the UK U3A movement aims to encourage people to come together and continue their enjoyment of learning in subjects of interest to them. The movement now includes more than 400,000 members.
Maria said “U3a is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills and with a range of sessions from book clubs to art classes there is something for everyone”.
