Newhaven continues on “upward curve” with new store opening

Newhaven has a new leading retailer in the town after The Range opened their latest store today.

Employing 80 people and home to an Iceland outlet, staff were ready to welcome hundreds of socially distanced local shoppers to the opening of the home, leisure and garden specialist.

Councillor James MacCleary, Leader of Lewes District Council and Councillor Lesley Boniface, Mayor of Newhaven, visited The Range for the opening and welcomed the new store manager Hannah Sztopel and her team to the town.

Councillor MacCleary said: “The opening of The Range is the latest good news story for Newhaven residents, with much more still to come. The timing of the opening couldn’t be any better with an end to the pandemic restrictions in sight and a summer to look forward to.

“The town has been on an exciting upward curve for some time and this direction of travel is set to continue. The new riverside venue at Railway Quay will open very soon, the multi-million pound Future High Streets funding will transform the town centre over the coming years and we will soon discover the outcome of our Town Fund bid.”

With this latest opening in Newhaven, The Range has five stores in Sussex, the others being Eastbourne, Worthing, Chichester, and Crawley and 190 in total across the UK.

Hannah Sztopel, The Range Store Manager, said: “We are pleased to finally be open in Newhaven and are excited to welcome the local residents in-store. We have been working closely with the council to bring employment opportunities to the area and will continue to work together in the future.”
