Maria Caulfield MP has highlighted further details of new flexible rail season ticket which will be available to commuters later this month.
Lewes MP Maria Caulfield has previously called for the introduction of the flexible season tickets and has raised the issue on behalf of many local residents who work part time and have been paying the full cost of weekly or monthly season tickets.
The new flexible ticket will be on-sale on 21 June, for use by 28 June. The paperless tickets will allow travel on any 8 days in a 28-day period, with passengers able to tap smartcards or scan mobiles at the station, with no need to select the days of travel in advance. Full details can be found on Southern Rail’s website at www.southernrailway.com/tickets/the-key-smartcard/flexi-seasons
Maria Caulfield MP said “I have been calling for flexible season tickets for many years now as many constituents have contacted me to say that they work part time yet either need to pay for daily tickets or season tickets they won’t get the most out of. These tickets are going to be especially needed now that even more people are going to be working flexibly with a mix of office and home work. I want to highlight the further details now released by South Rail so that my constituents who are interested can purchase these new tickets.”
