Very low key this year although flags were raised in Seaford, probably without ceremony?
The picture shows the flag hoisted on the Museum roof. There was also one close by on the main flagpole on the prom.
Hopefully we all remember the Sussex anthem- Good Old Sussex by the Sea?
“For We’re the men from Sussex, Sussex by the Sea.
We plough and sow and reap and mow,
And useful men are we;
And when you go to Sussex, Whoever you may be,
You may tell them all that we stand or fall
For Sussex by the Sea!
Oh Sussex, Sussex by the Sea!
Good old Sussex by the Sea!
You may tell them all we stand or fall,
For Sussex by the Sea.”
There are are several verses and many variations thereon. The Seaford town crier has his own take on Sussex day, which hopefully we will hear again soon.
Have a not too rousing (in these covid times) singsong!
